Christian Zanotto

Christian Zanotto (1972) was born in Marostica, near Vicenza, and now lives and works in Amsterdam.

He trained at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts. From the very beginning, his research has sought to move beyond classical media towards a technical and conceptual fusion between the material and the immaterial, between the universe of the virtual and that of tradition, exploring the ways in which they interface.

His works investigate the nature and mystery of existence and the archetypal sphere of humankind.

A master of the digital arts, he uses various types of software to fashion intangible sculptures, elegant figures that take concrete form on crystal plates or that he animates by translating them into video sequences and holographic installations.

Figuration comes alive in unique images, new icons of the digital age which belong to a fluid space-time that embodies the artist’s poetics, where the future of new technologies finds its most intense expression in a dialogue with the history of art.
