Federico Bonelli
Federico Bonelli (1969) was born in Rome, and now lives and works in Amsterdam.
His work encompasses the figurative arts, music, cinema and theatre. From very early on, he embraced technological applications and computer science, open source technology and hacking.
In 2002 he moved to Holland, where he was to become the prime mover in an important experimental project in generative digital painting carried out in collaboration with the Philips Research Centre that bears the name of Protoquadro. In a reworking of the futurist investigation into the “fourth dimension”, Bonelli created constantly changing techno-pictorial objects, with no two ever being the same.
His poetics of “transformation” – an expression of time and of the philosophical unity of the whole – has found spheres of application in the social innovation technologies of the “Trasformatorio” foundation.
