Fukushi Ito

Fukushi Ito

Fukushi Ito was born in Nagoya (Japan).

She graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. In 1980 she moved to Italy and currently lives and works in Milan.

Her work is a research on space and time, which is expressed through experimentation with materials and installation composition that investigate the power of light in creating works capable of restoring the profound connection between spatiality and temporality, so that the work itself becomes a metaphor for the emergence of reality and existence.

For her, artistic investigation and experimentation with materials is a human, anthropological and spiritual quest with which she seeks to explain our presence in the world and the way in which humanity represents itself and takes shape.

In 2014 she was awarded the Medal of Honour with the Dark Blue Ribbon on behalf of the Emperor.
